- Two radios will have upgradeable firmware – a win for all,
Two radios will have NOAA weather alerts – a feature for USA customers,
Two radios are IP53 certified and they were production units, not modified samples for the lab, and rated weatherproof rather than water resistant,
One radio will be able to cross-band repeat and be a full duplex unit,

Re: new baofengs/anytone
Almost wet myself upon reading the names of the new models - ANILE-8R, NSTIG-8R OBLTR-8R and TERMN-8R.
When will we have the FORNIC-8R?

I don't see the problems with the new names. Lots of radios want to sound good and think about all the Cb radios that are named in a similar fashion such as "superstar"

Thats true, its great when radios "sound good"!Excalibur wrote:I don't see the problems with the new names. Lots of radios want to sound good and think about all the Cb radios that are named in a similar fashion such as "superstar"
But of course far more important they "sound good" on air, as oposed to the name on the front!
If you want radios to be taken seriously, these sorts of "names" do them no favours, it makes them just sound like kids toys!
And I am sure they are not, but seriously why these types of name?

Re: new baofengs/anytone
Wonder what the reason is that "professional radios" are £100s and yet Bumfungs are £10s?

Commercial gear (professional), Motorola, Vertex Standard, Icom land mobile, is many times the price of even the amateur gear offered by Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood.Excalibur wrote:I don't see how they are toys they are professional VHF/UHF transceivers that can transmit on licensed frequencies..
