hey im new to the FRN world but noticed already my battery on the Baofeng UVB5 drains pretty quickly whilst being used as a gateway....and it doesnt like to be plonked in the charger whilst switched on and working ....so i am thinking of buying a baseunit for 230v! any suggestions nothing too expensive just a cheapo to get me connected....i must express that i have the MOAQC interface which has the 2.5 and 3.5mm jack connections so ideally something that will plug straight in??? any thoughts! or workarounds with my Baofeng UVB5?
thanks

hi,
get a battery eliminator instead of having the original battery plugged in all the time.
get a power supply like this and it'll work out fine.

Re: Mains powered base unit for FRN
If there was a half decent base unit 446 radio out there, would you buy one?
What would you like to see on it? Mains power? BNC connection for external antenna? USB socket to plug DIRECTLY into PC for FRN etc?
I like doing custom builds, and I'm thinking of making something similar. If its a success, I might build more!

Re: Mains powered base unit for FRN
if you could build a radio/terminal that is usb powered and integrates with FRN direct...so no need for radio gateways etc just "your" terminal and a usb cable! i would certainly pay for one!like an all in one solution....

Well, keep your eyes on my youtube channel... I have a few other projects in the pipeline, so I'll have to finish them first, but eventually, I WILL get around to this!
