Online webstores in America are selling them for $149 (+?90) So I guess when you add on shipping and VAT it doesn't work out much different.

As long as it is NEW and guaranteed, then it sounds pretty good.

if you have a look on ebay you'll see it there usually at the top of the cb section.

I just thought it sounded cheap and does there have to be much modding to get these to work on cb mate.

This radio at this price is standard, un-modified. It can be modified for high power, and full export mode eg, 6 band channels - at a cost of +?35.00
Total price= +?153 (including modding & postage)

Are you sure you don't want me to ask about the +?130 Deltaforce?

If you feel confident about it, then it will save you +?35.00, but then you have invalidated any warranty the seller gives by opening the rig. (They put seals over the screw holes to detect tampering). So make sure it works OK, before opening it up!

OK.

That's the same as the Magnums then.

Still invalidates your warranty though...

I think i might as well just wait until something comes on ebay for around 60-70 quid.

Regarding the Deltaforce yes it does sound good, my heart says yes but my wallet says no. thanks though mate.

Although that superstar still seems cheap.

Also i've just thought, even if i payed the extra 35 quid to have it modded by the bloke selling it.

The garauntee would still be void, the only way to have any of these radios kept under garauntee is not to touch them at all. Right.

Although my wallets so tight i most probably won't buy it anyway.

Anyways what was i on about. Oh yeah what ssb rig do you have NOW guzz or do you only have a Excel now.

And thanks for your help mate and any other suggestions would be welcome.

If the guy selling the radio, mods it - then he doesn't have much choice but to offer a warranty. Unless he specifically states otherwise.

I have an Icom 706 for SSB use.

Yeah but all he offers is a 7 day return policy, nothing like the however many year one that would come with the radio untouched.

I think i'd be better off getting a seconhand 148 for around 60 quid. I'd be happy with that.

Thanks guzz for all your help, i'll keep you posted on the situation and any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Keep an eye out on ebay. It may take a couple of weeks, but you will find a bargain eventually. ;-)
