Dakota

Post by bpoolfc95 »

Did anybody see or know what the Dakota is doing today as it just flew ridiculously low over my housng estate, but it didnt just fly over, it was performing tight turns and some steep climbs. For an old bird she was very precise. I would say it was about two lamposts high at times and it was on its side at one point and the wing was even nearer to roofs. Certainly made me excited for the airshow.

Probably scouting the route for the airshow and pin-pointing visual spots on the ground for orientation during the display. I've noticed quite a few light aircraft doing the same recently.

Expect to see some Mil aircraft doing the same and also a hawk from the red arrows doing the same ahead of their display. Mind you, it may not be red, but the engine note gives them away for sure anyways :-)

The BBMF C47 (im assuming its that you saw) covers a multitude of sins...from giving tail dragger currency to shifting the support team to venues where 474 is going to land....it also acts as a stand in incase of a u/s 474 etc... flew low over my house last week... nomore than 400ft an by my guess heading NNW....

by bbmf standards its cheap to operate

Yeah, it was definately the bbmf dakota as it seemed to be in their livery. I must say, the thing im most looking forward to this year is Miss demeanour again, love that plane. I dont take my scanner to the airsho on the saturday, but on the sunday, i can see the aircraft performing, only when their very high, from my back garden. Its also great because alot of the aircraft circle above my area before they are on. The sabre was circling for ages two years ago.

It would appear it was doing a flypast at Washington, Tyne and Wear at 11.45.
