CB radio for Christmas?

Post by g0slq »

Apart from us retro-cb'ers & dx'ers/freebanders etc. is anyone aware of anyone getting a CB for Christmas?

Having secured this years must-have (Nintendo Wii & all accessories) for the step-son, I remember the Christmasesof 81 & 82 - I wonder just how many cb's were bought in those years?

Mobile phones are cheaper to buy & run than even handheld radios now :-(

Got a Maycom AH-27 handheld a couple years back, which has now stopped working for some reason (atleast you've reminded me to get it sent off and looked at!)

Someone has got a new CB antenna, and a new scanner antenna up in the next road from me.

Maybe he/she didn't get them for Christmas, but in December for sure.

I hate mobile 'phones - toy radio's I call 'em !!

Did CB not become legal late in 81 ? which would have made it a prime prezzie for 81.
So I passed this test that allows me to twiddle with knobs, push buttons & call my self an Advanced !!!!!!!

Yup, November 81 I think it was!

I was 2 then...

One of the big downfalls of handheld CBs even now is none have any decent battery packs, they all expect to be run off AA's!

Mind you, a good present for retro kicks though...
