Re: VHF CB
The top end of 143MHz has been pirated for over 20 years by the hang glide/paragliding fraternity. I think it's technically an MOD air frequency.

new zealand is lucky to have 80 27mhz channels now. 26.330 to 26.770 then 26.965 to 27.400. Also 476.425 to 477.400.26mhz is almost dead. Most people are up on 27mhz or on 477mhz.There are eight repeater channels (the first eight)

All right for some! There has been a petition in the UK to try and get a VHF allocation for CB.... Hell will freeze over before that happens IMO

In my view purely from a moral standpoint the regulator should have given 20 channels for CB from the available spectrum . 934MHZ CB was unceremoniously removed because that spectrum was required for 'Cellular phones' .
I think it would be only fair to give 20 measely channels back given that such an enormous chunk of spectrum has become available.
Just my viewpoint

Re: VHF CB
There has been a bog cleanup of pirates in Australia but not here in New Zealand. The radio authorities here seem to have the view that if people behave themselves and dont interfere with other services (ie 11m) they can literally do what they like. For instance why have they given us the use of 27mhz where it is difficult to distinguish between Australians and New Zealanders? They might as well have told us it is ok to talk outside our own country.!!.The radio authorities will just give a person a talk to rather than confiscate equipment.I used to hear lots of Australian out of banders but havent heard anything for weeks now.Even 27.555 has been very quiet.I enjoy using fm where possible.

Neither being VHF.
would a new allocation either on VHF or UHF have any use in 2016? would there be enough users to justify a manufacturer making a type approved set or would everyone buy the cheapo Chinese V/UHF sets? the latter I suspect.
would the late 70's cb principle of use it and then get it allocated work today? probably not as there isn't the tsunami of users wanting it like there was back then.
all that said, if anyone wishes to play DMR on UHF in the herts area then let me know.
