Icom ID-51E - my brain hurts !

Post by pgcam »

I've had an ID-51E languishing in a cupboard for ages due to poor V/UHF coverage at home.

To sort of remedy this i've put together a Hotspot so at the very least I can join in on the Reflectors. All is working fine.

Monitoring the Reflector (DSTAR is still all very new to me) I note that a number of people broadcast a message following their call, something like:

MSG: Name, Location, Rig etc etc.

How is this achieved ?

In the menu of the ID-51E under 'My Station' is a section called 'TX Message' in here you can enter 6 or so short Messages. Is this how you do it ?
The problem is, at the head of the 'Message List' it says 'OFF' & I can find no way of turning it 'ON' ! The Manual is a complete waste of time on this subject.

Help !

Cheers,
Peter.....

I think I've figured it. You just need to think of the function as a list, simply select the message you want to send and each time the ptt is pressed that message is sent.

If no message is needed just select 'off' from the top of the list.

Simple when you know how ...I think !
