DVmega Pi3

Post by pete_uk »

I have the board connected to my Pi3 and its booting up and everything is tickety-boo on the hardware front. I have an image which has everything but to set up the repeater bit (the name of which starts with irc) I need to edit a file... that I can't find :crazy:

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on a good image or whatever so I can get the thing going {bnghd}

Western Dstar is always a good place to start.

Tried the 'D-Star Repeater +ircDDB + VNC Widget Version B,B+,V2 Compatible' but it didn't work on my Pi3, so I will try the top one.

The problem I had with another image from the US was I couldn't find the file I had to edit anywhere {bnghd}

Its been a while since I set one up but with the top 'Jessie' image you don't need to edit a file.
Theres a widget that opens once the image is installed and the Pi boots and from that you can configure both the ircddb and the dvmega.
I'll try to find the step by step instructions I used.

Thanks, yeah I have that top image but it doesn't see my board as dual band and I see no way of getting DMR working.

sec1223, get something on Windows!

I have the dualband version but buggered if I can get it going. Just get a constant red flashing light. No signal comes out and I'm not even sure which firmware I need.

Yeah I know all that, but I have managed to upload the firmware but the windows software says it cannot detect the firmware and when I use the android app I can connect to it and change reflectors manually but commands from radios are ignored. :|

Loads of info on that blog site could be down to something else accessing /dev/ttyAMA0 port on the pi.

Also what software version is running on your DVMega you may need to upgrade it to a later version.

I hope that helps

Thank you for the advice people! I have a DV Mega Bluespot and its great! :D

I have D-STAR on 144.8125 and that gets me around to the shop no problems on a gain rubber duck, with it connected to my GP6 antenna and a halfwave on my ID51 I can get it a quarter of a mile away up the fields. Not bad for 10mw
