As far as I know, not really :?

BTech used to be called BaofengTech, and were one of the first american importers of the UV5R - they were an "exclusive distributor" for a while, but obviously the term has limited meaning in the days where anyone can buy straight from China on AliExpress etc. I think they also dabbled for a while with Anytone gear under the name AnytoneTech.

Nowadays, they're big enough that they get custom batches made, normally with improved firmware, bugfixes etc.

Baofeng are still a mysterious collective of Chinese factories that'll stick any logo you like on for the highest bidder ;)

Correct, but the Anytone radio is not the same. The BTECH version has some additional features. And $170 converts to around £130 anyway.

The differences are well explained in this review: http://www.miklor.com/COM/Review_DMR6X2.php

I wasn't aware of the differences. Thanks for the link. I'll take a look.
Of course the $170 is before import duty, VAT and shipping surely?

I could well be wrong here but I was under the impression that you paid customs import duty if the value exceeded £120. Sadly,
I know about carriers charging for them paying the vat as it's happened to me a few times. :x
