The coarse works, but I want to change the fine in to make it work like coarse.

OK . I understand you now . However , I've never seen anyone who wanted that done . As I already mentioned before . If the TX/RX alignment isn't set up perfectly , then you will have all sorts of problems trying to talk to people on SSB . That's why the FINE only works on RX . So that you can tune other stations in without shifting your TX frequency . To be honest , it's going to be really hard to do anyway .

Why don't you just remove the "notch" from the COARSE control ? That might help you .

nick does this mod on 3900 all the time so both the f/c track rx and tx and this is what you require. best ask him m8

The coarse on the Grant classic/black is as already stated very limited due to crystal and inductor values, Unlocking the clarifier seems a bit pointless on the grant classic/black as they dont drift very much due to having limited coarse slide.

But to unlock the clarifier should be easy enough, Just remove the diode that goes to the TX FREQ VR to disable it [Or you can simply remove the TX FREQ VR] then locate the 8v RX wire on the clarifier and move it from +8v RX to constant 8v, However you will only get around + and - 1kc slide.

It really isnt worth doing.

thats what i was thinking as the coarse isnt very coarse on them, unlike the 148/3900 where if you move them a tiny bit you jump 100hz and having a fine tune rx/tx is a good idea to counter slight frequency drift.

Yet another mod I haven't heard of before. Think I'll give up replying to these types of posts, as I keep making an ass out of myself. I wouldn't do it to my radios , but others seem to want it done. Fair enough. Each to their own I guess.

sammy please dont stop replying , you are one of the main helpers on here like chris (not me)

and i love nothing better than to be proved wrong on anything i say because some 1 will put me right and i learn from it m8

and there is no right or wrong way of doing things just different ways of doing things as an example

like i hate to unlock the fine on a dual setup i rather take the notch out where nick is the opposite same end result you can account for minor frequency drift and alter it.

no 1 does it wrong just different and there is pros and cons of both methods m8

keep up the great work sammy

I also don't see the point of unlocking the fine. What if the other station is off Frequency? You'll be forever chasing each other around!

Hello! I have my radio President GRANT has altered radically! put instead of changing the generator module DDS and made control from Arduino . and the frequency change I put plus or minus 6 kHz.

You would think thats what would happen and to be honest i thought the same thing until i figured out some years later that it wasn't the case, I only unlock clarifiers on 3900s to compensate for the drift issue which is quite effective.
