is it possible to drop these down onto the UK 40 on hi band to make them more usable, they’re lovely sets, just want to get a bit more use from them.

I think you'll need to use a dedicated module for the uPD2816 . By the looks of things Mr Maurer has one .

You can give high band the UK offset to get channels 1-26 on frequency if that's what you're after as my black face JFK and superstar 120fm's been done. Not sure about a full 40 Eprom or otherwise though?

my jfk's are dropped for uk fm, you just need a small trimmer cap on the high band crystal.

"An antenna with a poor ground using few radials cannot have a support mast grounded to the radial common point (at least it shouldn't if designed properly) There is no exception to this!

No one uses channels 27 and above as they all just seem to use ch19 nowadays.

I'm surprised someone hasn't come out with a new, 1 channel ukfm radio ;)
