Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
I'd like to add a set of pins to the factory plug on my linc 1. I considered a soldered plug ad to pannel but wish it left factory .
So will use new pins to add external speaker via wire tails to female plug for the 3,5mm Jack male on ex speaker
Does anyone know the plug pin type size please so I can order some .
Thank you

Hi!
So are you looking for the female piece info where you plug in the 3.5mm audio jack?
If that is so, its a female audio mono jack 3.5mm.
If you are looking for the original white accessory connector that plugs to the rear of the unit, you can find them from eBay.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132892214613 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253965013275
If you are looking ONLY the pins to that existing connector, hmm.. Here I lift my hands up, I think they are called male MOLEX pins.

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
Thank you ,the pins is all I believe but if I can locate a cheap pin block white plastic plug I will mod a spare and keep original as is.
Will look at mine and at Molex version but surely these pins would be common ish type but then seems nothing is simple with anything today.
I think they use weird sizes so you go to the dealer for parts .

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
Paul aks Sammy ,thank you. That's exact the info I needed.
I will look on rs spares .
I'm not sure how many need as such .
I do like to keep originality if I can and believe I may have to remove all pins to do the wiring as I need to add s wire to existing and then add one more pin.
Now I have two lincs I will do both as prefer the extension speakers sound.
So I'm thinking remove all of pins wires carefully, solder the 2original but one piggy back to the third New pin for ex speaker
Hence I or someone could swap old pin and wires if needed for originality
Maybe a little ott really.
Im surprised these arnt on ebay .
That's a really generous offers Sammy if I have any problems obtaining I will advise you.
Think I only need 6 ? But may buy bulk bag if tbey do better prices for 20,40,50 so on. But again I won't need such I guess.
65p each,must be gold plated

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
I can make you a dedicated plug if you want . I used to make and sell them on Ebay , but I'm away from home at the moment . I can make the standard replacement 2 pin jumper , or the proper complete "accessory" plug , (that came with the HR2510) that allows you to connect the EX SP , PA and CW key . Won'r be able to do it till Feb though . Think there's someone in the States that does them as well .original45 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2018, 15:30 Im surprised these arnt on ebay .

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
Sorry if I sound stupid, the white connector on the back of my 2830 has a wire from one pin to the other.Does this allow u to get sound from the internal speaker?what would I have to do to enable use of a external speaker?if I bought the connected with the wire connected as mentioned above on eBay,would I then have to disconnect the wire in the connector on the rear of my 2830?and so the block I push on will then allow me to use a external speaker?why they make it difficult ,I just want to know how I can use a external speaker on my 2830,all help much appreciated.

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
Can't help you with that .
The white jumper wire on the connector you have is so that you can use the internal speaker . If you want to use an external speaker you have 2 options . Buy a dedicated accessory plug for it which will allow you to use an ext. speaker , cw key and PA speaker . Or , drill a hole in the back and fit a 3.5mm phono plug (my preference) . If you want the dedicated one which will replace the one you have then I can make one for you . PM me if you're interested .
Cheers

Why Uniden/President chose this option for the 2830's/Lincoln's etc I'll never know. Realistic got it right with the HTX - 100. Much more user friendly and far better build quality.

Re: Pres linc 1 2830 external speaker pkug pins
This is true Paul. There are some good functions on the HTX - 100 which aren't on the 2830 or Lincoln. Also better filtering. It's almost as frustrating as the President HR2600 which has all modes but can't be modified for 11 metres as easily as the Lincoln. A processor chip swap or chipswitch is required. Only the very early models could be expanded in the same way as the Lincoln. I have one here which I've got to work on 11 metres by going a crystal swap from a 22Mhz to a 20Mhz so the radio now does 26.000 through 27.7000.
