New bleep board design !

Post by 1968neil »

Hi Folks,
I'm back after a few years away from the radio scene.
I am Neil, i am the author of the original "Anatomy of the modern CB Radio" which i self published back in 2003.
Anyone remember that ? :D

I am an electronics designer and have designed many modules for CB over the years and have now decided that its about time i put some of my skills to good use !
Ideas for boards and mods welcome......

I have a few roger bleeps boards left (listed on ebay at present) search 1968neil
I will shortly be releasing the "Ultra-Bleep" board which is the most hi-tech bleep board ever produced.
Forget single bleeps and dodgy home brew modules this will be a game changer !
You will now be able to have upto 1000 different bleeps all stored on an sd card or a memory stick and they will be in mp3 format.
You want a Hygain 5 bleep that sounds like a real Hygain 5 ? this is now possible etc .....
Be interested to know your thoughts !
Thanks for reading
Best Regards
Neil

Hi Neil!

Definitely interested, put some video link of the bleeper when you get it up and running.

The first prototype was a 100% success, i have just sent the manufacturing data for fabrication :)
Hope to have some boards ready soon, i have made a start on the software and hope to post a Youtube video in due course.
There will be two versions available, one which can be fitted to the radio and another that can be put into an external enclosure with an LCD screen for viewing selected bleeps etc.
I have allowed for an SD card and a memory stick so the choice is yours .
The LCD interface is also standard and its up to the end user if it gets used or not.
I will also be supplying a micro sd card with the board that contains the most requested bleeps already on the card.
ie: Genuine Hygain 5, k tone, close encounters (proper movie sample), Dixie air horns etc etc
Maybe you guys have a list of the bleeps you'd like to see on the card ?
All bleeps i supply are professionally edited and in a CD quality format.

I have spend a good number of months on this project, hope you like it :)

As my next serious project i was thinking of a "Echo Module", i have some great ideas for this but always welcome "outside of the box" input.

Kind Regards
Neil

I want an animal sound bleep  you know, cats dogs chickens cows etc. used to have one (still got it somewhere) made with a toy sound fx chip and a k bleep for the timing. Oh, and gunshots and explosions as well would be nice. If you could just load mp3 or wave files to it and switch easily between them that would be good. As for echo a long repeat time one would be nice. I've got a Maplin voice vandal and I added a pitch shift and robot voice chip to it, make a little girl sound like darth vader or a big guy like the chipmunks, lol. Yeah, possibilities only limited by technology and imagination....
The perfect face for radio.

Sounds like an updated version of the "Electronic Monkey" that was out a few years ago. If you connected a usb cable to the board, you could use the supplied software to upload any short 8 bit wav file as a bleep. It only stored one bleep at a time though if I remember correctly. Fun to play around with though.

There is a good chance some will be sold second-hand in the future but eh,once some of the decent users get bored and stick them online for resale Neil.At least you have good intentions with this add on board, others will just see it as something to annoy other people on the CB,look forward to hearing them on the skip 👍
Plenty are talking worldwide on 27.555 usb,
Some are too far up their own @rse to admit it,
Many happen to know otherwise dx-ing test free,
Showing a complete lack of respect for the law.
