Looking to understand the mod on this newly bought 148 GTL DX

Post by 26VT01 »

Haven't opened a rig since 1982 but here we go !

No power meter as yet to check but the NB/ANL switch appears to change power. The switch has a 3.5k ohm 5% resistor ( orange green red gold) & the 2 wires from it , in the 1st pic go to a place near / under VR13.

Yeah its a low power switch, Atleast they didnt lower the power with the VR then use a switch to short the VR without the resistor for high power as thats worse and i have seen it many times, I would remove it and set the VR for around 7w and reconnect the NB/ANL

Low power , okay , cant see a use for that ! removing it etc sounds like a plan - thanks ;)
