reducing power on a crt ss 6900n radio

reducing power on a crt ss 6900n radio

I would like to thank anyone in advance who answers my question , can anyone please tell me how to turn the power down on my ss6900n at the moment the output is about 40 w i would like it at about 5w on fm ,i am fed up with forgeting to turn the power down and blowing my linear amps up .

If you dont want to open the radio and mess with it then maybe fit a power reducer?

Or superglue the RF power pot on the front to 5w.

No need for thanks George, I was just guessing, glad you sorted it and won't take out any more linears, than can prove expensive.
I do know that it's wise to use a linear with them, they are rated at 40w ish, my 5555 was about 55w on FM but boy did it get hot, and I mean really hot, untouchable, so I never used mine over 20w on FM, and if I had wanted more then I would have used a linear rather than cranking the rigs RF up for fear of cooking the finals.
