Right ive an 2950 in my van mobile and recently with this cold and damp weather its taking a while to tune in ?
Now this is only a recent thing so I'm thinking its got a bit damp? Any ideas...

a lot of the internal components are some what heat sensitive.
my magnum 257 stable on frequency when you switch on to switch off when used in the house.
now its in the car its like a sail boat in a storm starts off at least 300hz high in frequency.
after blasting the heating for 10 mins she is a lot better

Hope fully that isn't the case Mel ? If it's cold , then fine . It'll need the usual 20/30 minute warm up as most of our radios do . If it's still off frequency , or drifting after that then it might need looking at .

my old 2950 was off 00.001 off frequency at switch on, then 30 mins later its fine ..

Cheers guys. She does get better when on for a while but it never used to be this bad so I'm guessing it may need help!

Mate of mine has one, it's always off frequency even if he realigns it it still drifts off, it never stays put and is low even when warm. It died over the weekend so it's off to the rig doctor to find out why it's failed. I would say get rid and buy something else.

Who would have thought... They actually made the 3900's worse as time went on.

Always drifted since 90's. So many years, no improvement
