Replacing round Uniden style meters

Post by cb4ever104 »

Hi All .

Just sent a PM to another member in the wanted section who was looking for a replacement Uniden round style meter .

I replaced 3 of them on both of my Madisons a few months back . I bought these ones .

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141741984954

You need to remove the paper inlays on the new meters and use the ones from your old meters . Just be careful you don't damage the meter movement . The needle colour on these new meters is red , however they're white on my Madison . So I bought some tippex and painted over the red . Job done . Just thought I'd share the info .

Excellent. I needed one for my Audioline PT-345 and got lucky on here with one from George IrishHam (where are you mate?) but I will get a couple for the spares box.

Nice one Sammy.

Yeah it is . I also sent him some details about the square Galaxy/Jumbo type ones , so that he could get his supplier to make them . But he never got back to me . Those ones are really hard to come by .

Hi Sammy,

Barkett Electronics sell them, he has quite a few different styles:

I've dealt with the guy before, reasonable prices and shipping

Hi Dom .

Yeah , I know he does m8 , but the shipping quote I got was around $20 , which takes the price up to almost $40USD for a meter . I'm sure we could get them for about 1/3 of that price from our Taiwanese friend "wonderco_buy" , if we could just get them made .

They may not be as cheap as the Taiwanese round meters but they are available and for someone who is in a hurry or desperate need it's a reputable source.

If he has to make them specially you would be looking at a bulk buy and back to square one cost wise, but if he's willing just to make a few then it's happy days!

Let us know how you get on bud.

Actually now that I think about it there was a little more to the story . Wonderco gets the meters from Flashstar .

http://www.flashstar.com.tw/profile.html

I emailed them about the Galaxy meters and they sent me a list of technical spec. questions about them . I didn't have a clue , and I didn't have any spare to send them as an example , so I just left it .

I'll put it on my things-to-do list :)

Wonderco has some handy bits and i have had quite a bit off him shame we cant add items to cart though and get postage discount, As it is we have to pay postage on each item and everything comes in one packet, I seen the meters some time ago and thought they might have been too small [the round part] Do they fit correctly or is there some gap..

No . They're a perfect fit Nick . 4cm diameter . I had to adjust them up a bit on RX and TX as the sensitivity might be a bit less . Then again it might not be as my Madison ones weren't working anyway , so it was difficult to tell .
