Anytone 5555 beeping error
A friend of mine has an Anytone 5555 V6 I think, Anyway for no reason the radio has suddenly stopped receiving and transmitting and when the mic is keyed the radio starts beeping really loud. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Anytone 5555 beeping error
Tell him to see if the radio will receive a signal if another radio is keyed up next to it on same channel.
The beep on TX looks to be the swr protect is on, Its possible [a long shot] that the wire from the main board to the antenna socket has come off which would explain no signals and beep on TX.

Right then, He tried another radio transmitting next to it and the Anytone does not pick it up. He took the cover off and reset it but it's still the same. Any suggestions?

Connect it to a PC, download the channel map as a backup. Reprogram it.NightProwler wrote:Right then, He tried another radio transmitting next to it and the Anytone does not pick it up. He took the cover off and reset it but it's still the same. Any suggestions?

When he reset it the radio went back to 11M which is what he programmed it for, I thought it would go back to 10M. Is that correct? I know nothing about these 'modern' radios

did that fix it though?
Assuming the antenna is OK too? Short Coax maybe?

No it's still beeping when he transmits and no receive. Antenna and coax are fine as he tried another radio on it, SWR very low. He's about to put a sledge hammer through the Anytone

No the original mic broke, I think he sat on it and he's about 32 stone But the mic he wired up has been working fine for the last few weeks.

Well he's still alive, Just After he found his laptop amongst the piles of Mc Donalds burger wrappers, Beer cans and over flowing ashtrays he was told on the Anytone 5555 Facebook page to replace the 10.240 crystal which I did and it made no difference. Any other suggestions people?

Is the crystal oscillating?NightProwler wrote:Well he's still alive, Just After he found his laptop amongst the piles of Mc Donalds burger wrappers, Beer cans and over flowing ashtrays he was told on the Anytone 5555 Facebook page to replace the 10.240 crystal which I did and it made no difference. If you've got no RX or TX it would suggest that something around the VCO or PLL isn't working, the beeping for SWR on these radios is different as it will TX a little first and of course doesn't affect RX.
What test gear do you have?
Pin 5 of the CPU or Pin 11 of the PLL is Lock Detect, I'd also check the PLL has power, 5 Volts on pins 2, 3, 22 and 23. Check that the regulated 8V supply from U506 is present at U301 pin 1 and that pin 3 of U301 is pulled high if the PLL is missing its supply voltage.

Cheers Cjay although I have to admit that's a little bit over my head I think it's time to take the radio to a doctor
