A post Mitch posted up some time ago..
Lafayette 1800 (125 board) some weeks ago and while it doesn't kill the pop altogether it certainly makes it a lot less and it's very easy to do. It slows down the switching a bit but enough to improve it. Just solder a 1uF electrolytic between the base and collector of Q27, on a 125/131 board (Q25 on a 133), and you'd be surprised how much better it can be, not perfect but simple and works. I did experiment a little and found the 1uF was about right but you can have a play too.

Now that looks like something I could find on the board.

lol very late to the party
very new or re new to CBs (after 40 years )
come straight to the point ...do i understand correctly that i just solder the capacitor to the legs of q14 (york 863)

Remove the front leg of R60 (10k) from the board (RHS front of PCB). Solder a wire into this hole (connects to Q14 collector) and solder the other end to the post near the front of the board which has a blue wire (usually blue) going to the volume control.
If you want to make it switchable, wire the free leg of the resistor through a switch.

tried that one didn't like at all just lowers the volume in a strange way.
was referring to adding the 10 uF cap to Q14 seemed to get positive feedback .

OK, yes, just solder a 16v 10uf cap across the emitter & collector of Q14

soldering a 16v 10uf cap across the emitter & collector of Q14 transforms the squelch behaviour, no more poping or rumble as squelch breaks. this was the one annoying thing with cybernet based radio's. but no more. have done this to all mine and so much better.
