Cobra 148 GTL DX & SS-360FM - Serial Numbers
I thought I would start another thread to log serials of Cobra 148 GTL DX radios that we have or have had
It would be interesting to see how many were actually made
I currently have:
Mk1 - 03002675
Mk2 - 13002697
Mk2 - 13005214
Mk2 - 13008264
Uggs must have the earliest I have ever seen

Must admit I haven't come across a lower one yet.
My Mk 1 is 03000062
It's in pretty good shape for an old gal.

Sorry m8, I am going to have to insist you take some 'internal' pics - Lets see if there is any major differences on a really early Mk1 !

Re: Cobra 148 GTL DX - Serial Numbers
I've got a mk1 here that is even tidier than Bobs inside
All the power devices are original because you can tell by the colour and fit of the heatsink compound and it looks like it has never been modded or adjusted although I have aligned it since.
S/N 0300269x
I would guess Bob's has had the PA stage and the 1012 replaced at some point because it has modern looking white heatsink compound. The original stuff ooks like hard cream and is a a bit yellowy.
I've got another mk1 here that I think has never been opened since new! It's very dirty on the outside, not as nice as Bob's but I think it still has that 1980s air trapped inside it
S/N 130005xx
If you look at Bob's radio the PLL is date coded week 24 1980.
My mk1 with S/N 0300269x has week 29 1980 on the PLL.
