Hi guys i have just got said antenna from a mate he never had it up it just lay in his back garden..question is tho should this antenna give a short when i test it for continuity ? hope this makes sense ?

It may be normal, depending on what type of feed/matching arrangement it uses. Best test is an SWR meter, using only enough power to do the job.

Al little late to the party but yes, all of the diamond X range are DC grounded so considering it is a copy, I would expect it to be too.
