If they are elusive or expensive then they are pretty easy to make yourself from bits laying around your shack.

I thought this was an ATU, not an amp?WARLOCK wrote:Anyone got to sell or know where to get the cable to connect a icom ic-706 mk2 g radio to a ldg z-11 pro11 linair amp .
Regardless, Martin Lynch sells the ful range of LDG products. Pretty sure they have the interface cable advertised.

What he said, very simple to make and considerably cheaper.
And yes, it is an ATU not an Amp.

Yeah, got to agree. Looks easy to make. 4 pin molex connector, a round dc-type jack and a 3.5mm plug
You would just need the correct sizes and a wiring diagram.
Certainly cheaper than the £21 asking price from Martin Lynch.

Here are the pin outs for the Molex connector and 3.5mm plug.
According to the manual the DC plug is Positive to the Centre and Negative/Ground to the outer.

You can obviously use the ATU straight away without this cable, the cable just allows you to power the ATU from the rig and gives (very limited) control of the ATU via the 706, it will work just fine in stand alone mode controlling things from the ATU front panel.
I can't remember what the ATU power is, I think it's something like 5v-20v, so a 13.8v feed will be perfect.

As Admiral say's, you don't actually need the cable. That just allows you to control the ATU from the radio Tune button but you can use the tuners tune button to do the same job. The only difference is that "TUNE" won't be displayed on the 706.
You can put batteries internally with this ATU so you don't even need an external Power Source.

Re: icom ic-706mk2g to ldg z-11 pro11 amp cable
only advantage is if (like me) the radio has it's head unit remote-mounted. Allows you to initiate a tune from the radio. If the ATU is in the shack, you click the ATU button and you're done. The ATU will not auto-tune when you change frequencies on the radio with the cable, so you'd still have to initiate a tune with each change of band anyway.
So unless you;re remote-mounting, just forget about the cable :-)
