K for Kernow Callsigns
Admittedly I haven't been on the radio for a while since changing my van, busy working and starting a new relationship.
Recently installed a 2/70 radio in the van.
Just been reading this article in the West Briton, a local newspaper here in the Peoples Republic of Cornwall (Kernow):
CORNISH RADIO STATIONS GIVEN THE NOD TO USE K AS CALL SIGN
It's 'K' for Kernow next year as radio hams are given permission to broadcast [Pixie says: ha, broadcast do we? Journalists always say that!] new call-signs to celebrate Cornish minority status. Ofcom agreed today that radio amateurs in Cornwall can add the letter 'K' for the whole of 2016...............Keith Matthew, secretary of the Poldu Amateur Radio Club, said a team of members had co-ordinated the proposal through the RSGB. ........................"this can only be good for the standing of Cornwall, both nationally and internationally...." The news has been welcomed by the grand bard of the Gorsedh Kernow......who said "This is fantastic news for the Cornish identity" Ofcom does not have a policy to allow for a permanent addition [prefix that is], so it is just going with 2016 for now.

So when im down at my folks place i have to sign GK7•••/mp?
Is it mandatory? Its bad enough at my other half's place having to sign GW7...
But if it promotes Cornwall then all the better...

No I haven't. Yes I was involved in one or two threads in the past but that is the nature of a debating forum. Since this was a recent topic in a Cornish newspaper, it may be of interest to others.Admiral wrote:You've already done this one to death RadioPixie.
I could of course start a "Cybernet vs Uniden" or "iMax2k vs Gainmaster" or "M6 cornflake box licence" thread if you prefer. That would be doing "one to death", lol
You are very welcome to come and live in Cornwall and enjoy using our nice analogue VHF/UHF repeater systems (including ATV) that get used and you don't need higher power and a beam to access them http://www.transmission1.eu/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=48664

At least Scotland would have survived as an independent country, not too sure a devolved Kernow would survive on its tin or pasties.
