QADV

Post by MW0SWA »

Anyone use this QADV service in their preparations for their adavanced exam?

If so how did you find it helped you?

It seems to be helping me a great deal at the moment.

It's great, question wise, although somewhat easier than the real deal, apparently. Take 15-20 marks off your QADV mark to get your approximate "real" score. It's good for seeing where your weak areas are.

Could do with updating though, those colours hurt my eyes. "Holy crap I can use VB to change the colour of this button!" er, no. :)

It's much better than the Hamtests website.

Found the questions repeated themselves a lot, however it does highlight where you are weak, as mentioned.

My advice : ensure you learn the easier sections - licensing, safety, operating etc - really really well. This will carry you through even if you stuff up on some of the technical parts.

If you have a reasonable understanding of the technical areas, you will be OK. Some of the advanced questions can be a bit awkwardly worded, and the understanding of the material can help you eliminate 3 answers sometimes.

Keep practicing and good luck ?

Thanks for your replies guys,

Happy to say I passed my advanced exam, and yes QADV did help a lot.

my advice to anyone going for the exam is to just hammer QADV and possibly hamtests, and write down every answer your not sure off and then go look up the theory behind them until you understand it.
