New guy from Norway

Post by Cornelius »

Hello everyone! :)

I am Cornelius, living on the southern coast of Norway, and enjoy using CB's and PMR's to get the best results long distance locally (no DX).

Hi Cornelius, welcome! This forum is full of answers to those questions you always wanted to ask about CB/PMR446, but never knew who or where to ask.

Thank you all, guys. :)

Don't know about talking to you on air, though - DX between Norway an UK are rare, in my experience... :silent: But i'll keep an ear out. ;)

Is CB very popular in norway? For being a country that shut off analogue FM radio in place of the new digital one I would be somewhat surprised!

It has been virtually dead since the end of the 80's, but it has picked up in popularity the last few years - after SSB got legal... In more densely populated areas one can always find someone to talk to, but around me, there's maybe 4 people with a CB in a radius of 50 km...

This is what i find interesting - try to reach people as far away as possible with legal equipment, without using skip. :)

Interesting, Same deal here really. I mostly use it to talk to already established friends who have (or i convince to buy  )radios.
I thought skip is to reach people far away no? In general

Waving a hand from Western Canada. During the peak of the last cycle, I made a few contacts into Norway on 11m. One in the southern part was 20XXC4, Rob, in Oslo.
