SDRangel

Can anyone help please? I was awestruck by how easy & quick it was to download SDR Angel. Works well on Airband am and copes perfectly with nfm two-way simplex. I just can't get it to monitor & demodulate local dmr. Even though my Uniden 230 blasts out daleks-with-machine-guns, when I key-in the frequency, I get nothing. I can see the broadcast on the waterfall but after honing in on the signal there's zero. I can't even get the time-slot, colour-code & talk group (does anyone know how to make SDR Angel do that ???). If anyone can advise me what to do, I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks Drew
I appreciate the useful information. My next step is to track down a dll plug-in that decodes & displays the TS, CC & TG

Thanks again BRJ.

I'm such a ****. SDRangel works perfectly. My utterly inadequate antenna was the problem ! Decoding dmr vox perfectly. There's a single line field which displays what seems, at first glance, a random string of numbers and letters. Awesomely, it sub divides into Time Slot, CC, Radio ID and Talk Group. There's even a call log screen that captures all of this essential information for you ! Typical mobile to mobile chatter is perfectly clear, intelligible and streets ahead of analogue two-way traffic. In seconds I was monitoring security watching-over today's protest march against POTUS' visit to Scotland. If you've had previous issues with DSD + and the rigmarole of installing audio cables, then get SDRangel. It does exactly what you need it to in a quick-install, fast loading package. Just don't be tempted to enter frequency, TS, CC & TG into your Radioddity RD-5r ! No point in annoying any interesting DMR user (they'll just use an encrypted vocoder that will ruin it for all listeners !)

So easy enough to set up then ? Got a sdrplay rsp1 running sdr sharp or sdrplay and will check to see what spec my pc is as I believe it's got to be a certain spec for sdr angel to run x64 or whatever ? Once all installed pretty much plug and play to decode ? any advice would be great seeing as you have now successfully got it running yourself !!

P.s from the GitHub website what do I actually download for this software as I see several files ?

I'm having problems as well. I can't unzip sdrangel, 7zip won't run on this PC for some reason so when there's a normal windows file I might try it.

As for sdr# only an old version (v1.0.0.1171) will see the rtl dongle and it does work, but newer versions won't see it. Zadig gets ID'd as a virus with Zonealarm security too, so more messing. I've tried it on a desktop PC and a laptop/tablet, both running Windows 10 home and both 64 bit, same result.

I can't say I'm impressed with any of it tbh, more problems than it's worth imo. It might be cheap to do but costs in time outway the little reward. It's probably easier to just buy a scanner.

Let me know how you get on if you do download it, having a nightmare this end with it in getting it to decode dmr !! At this point I must say it's probably more than likely operator error rather than software error hence looking for help with it !!
