Hi I have to be honest I'm not very clued up when it comes to scanners. I'm looking for a scanner that can pick up digital frequencies (If possible). I currently only have a baofeng receiver & its not picking up much anymore. Can anyone recommend a good scanner that will pick up digital frequencies and ready set up without me having to download things etc? Any help would be much appreciated .

None of them are very easy to use. If you just want something you can turn on and start listening then forget it and find another hobby. In the UK you have to search for stuff yourself to listen to, unlike in the US where they have databases of systems that you can just load onto your scanner.

AOR AR-DV1 Analogue & Digital Base Scanner would be of more use.

Lots of Whistler and Uniden digital scanner users who could not get their heads around the programming sold up, saved their pennies and went down the AR-DV1 route..

No scanner comes ready set up unless you live in the States which is what is stated in posts above. You have to search for frequencies via the scanner for yourself. There are some lists and frequencies given on this forum as you no doubt will have seen. I may yet invest in one of the Uniden 536 HP or the TRX2 from Whistler to compliment my AOR AR DV1. As digital scanners are SDR (Software Defined Radio), then I'm afraid you will have to download updates for those particular scanners in order to keep them in check and still functioning!
