Scanner repair, anyone recommend someone with good knowledge?
With regret, my AOR Ar2002 has decided to play silly beggars and fade the display, stop receiving and instead make a humming probably of around the 50Hz zone. It may well be that it needs a good switch cleaner or more drastic surgery. My tools are packed away etc in anticipation of a house move, so I'm happy for someone with really good knowledge to repair the scanner and if someone can let me know of such a person, I'll be most grateful!

This sounds like a failed power supply. Can you try a replacement?

Hi Tigersaw, I'd like to see if that is the case, but there's a small issue. That issue is of there being no current compatible power supply available in order to test out your theory. Not unless you know of such a supplier.

I dont know what it requires - what does it say on the back?
just looked at online manual - says 12-14v DC
Have you a bench or rig supply?

I do have a 12v rig supply, I guess I can disconnect one power cord from the original supply and feed it from the other power supply. Thanks for the suggestion.

Tigersaw, brilliant diagnosis! That's exactly what it was. A bridge rectifier was the culprit. Many thanks to Richard at Coastal Comms for the repair. The AR2002 should be back on the rack soon and monitoring the airband!
