DMR/ DSTAR repeaters

Post by stratocaster » 16 Sep 2017, 14:23

I take it the reason I am hearing GB7EE amongst other Edinburgh based repeaters kicking out transmissions from South America, USA etc is down to it being telecom groundwire linked, just as mobile phone masts are groundwire linked and not relying on plenty wattage of radio transmission power?

GB7EE is internet linked via a 4G router.

Cheers Drew! I suspected that was the case. It certainly makes for interesting listening. I'm quite impressed by the software in my scanner picking up more information about the transmission and displaying the repeater etc whilst tuned in to other broadcasts, particularly on the 145mhz frequencies for Dstar. I was thinking of programming the repeater station in, but it's not necessary to do that seeing as it automatically displays the info!

John, for a decent list of uk repeater nets go to www.ukrepeater.net
Hopefully you will get a few frequencies there!

Try the GB7DD website. It is the main source for DMR information in Scotland.

http://www.gb7dd.co.uk

You will likely be in rf range of GB7EE in Edinburgh.
