Ctcss/Dcs ?? on scanner
Is there any point in entering Ctcss/Dcs into a scanner as this is just for receiving ???

If there are various transmissions on one frequency but you only want to hear one of them then yes, if you know the squelch tone they use it will be beneficial.
If you want to hear everyone then no, no point at all.

There can be a point. If there is one user you want to listen to, but you can hear multiple groups on a channel then putting the CTCSS or DCS in would mean you only hear the one. Also I find that some frequencies I can hear a digital system and an analog system. Putting the CTCSS/DCS in stops me from hearing the digital noise so it's definitely useful there.

I use it as i have 4 or 5 users saved that use the same Uk simple frequency.
