scanner steps and delay settings ,HELP PLEASE
When using a scanner how important are the step and delay settings you use , lets say on the 2mt / 70 cmt bands FM / civil air / military air bands AM . What settings do you use please .

I use a 2 second delay, any more and you just basically have a monitor for that specific channel if it's a busy one. So you're setting the minimum delay as you want it to pick up other transmissions in the specific banks you are scanning.
Steps usually set to 1khz/0.50khz unless it's on auto,in which case it will set it for you. It works for me.

You can never have enough radios!

A step of 1KHz (.001 MHz) or 0.5KHz (.0005 MHz) is fine for HF but certainly doesn't apply to VHF/UHF
The usual default step for commercial VHF/UHF is 12.5KHz
5KHz is fine for civil airband (technically 8.33KHz)
25KHz for milair
