realistic pro 2005 faulty-help needed

Firstly if ive posted in the wrong area i apologize-What it is ive just got hold of a realistic pro 2005 scanner on fm it works perfect and sounds good also on wfm it works fine the problem is on am its really badly distorted and scatchy you cant make out anything that is being said its that bad,i just wondered if anyone knows where i can get it repaired or does anyone think they know what the problem may be,any help would great..
