I've come across one TETRA signal that doesn't belong to the Emergency Services in Greater Manchester, but i've not got all the software installed, so i wouldn't know if its encrypted or not.

There is at least one unencrypted network in Manchester, which is Oldham council.
TETRA is in use in some places such as Prisons, Shopwatches (Cardiff I know of), Nottingham Trams, F1 teams (not sure if they are running crypto on all TG's), London underground's CONNECT and on bigger events (such as Commonwealth) they brought in a hired TETRA net.

The only realistic option for trunking, apart from MPT1327, was TETRA. Now DMR T3 and capacity plus/max is taking the place of TETRA, with a generally cheaper price tag.

I don't get why people won't share where networks are, the MNC/MCC/Freqs/TG's I can understand, but even the existence of them?!

Scott.

Scott,

The one i found here is on 442.5400. Spectrum search shows it as:

Arqiva Ltd & Airwave Solutions Ltd

The thing is, it falls way out of the area you'd expect airwave to be. What do you think it is?

Can you double check the frequency please? as it not a standard frequency and the WTR has no record :)

In London AFAIK that is one of a number of frequencies used by Airwave as an addition to 380 - 400MHz allocation..

Pretty sure that's Oldham council, their net covers quite a large area (presumably because it's up in the moors somewhere).

When the Olympics were in town I was getting a fair bit of traffic in 422 which was Old Trafford on the actual Olympic net and Oldham council. It's held by Ariqua with a pool of frequencies than can be used as they see fit, sometimes for commercial nets they supply, sometimes as Airwave overflow freqs. IIRC there was a mandatory update that went out on Airwave to include 422 in the band plan of terminals to cope with the temporary cells that were deployed.

There was rumours of a TETRA net at Manchester airport but I've been monitoring the two Airradio MPT nets and they're still going strong with all users accounted for, so think it is just a rumour.

There was a rumour some time ago about this, but it's gone quiet on that, so I'd say it's highly unlikely.
