Not always true. Notts still using analogue as primary mode with Mototrbo radios.radiosification wrote:I would assume that actually any areas with DMR radios would be using DMR, and then would switch back to analogue if they were working with another unit that has only analogue radios.thelad wrote:Most areas can switch to DMR now when working with other areas that use DMR all the time.

Re: UHF Fire
Interesting. I wonder why they don't use DMR. Maybe not everyone in Notts has got the new radios yet?radtech wrote:Not always true. Notts still using analogue as primary mode with Mototrbo radios.

Re: UHF Fire
I think as far as the Fire Brigade Union in Notts is concerned it is a Health and Safety issue..

Re: UHF Fire
The analogue audio is fantastic on those Mototrbo radios, alot better than the old Entels they used to use.Metradio wrote:I think as far as the Fire Brigade Union in Notts is concerned it is a Health and Safety issue..

Re: UHF Fire
A fire near me last night in Trethomas, just outside Caerphilly, involved a lot of units as was in an old closed pub premises, most likely set ablaze by children.
2 channels in use AFAIK:
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus (BA) inside burning building were using 457.4875 NFM.
Firefighters outside front and rear of building using 457.0375 NFM

Re: UHF Fire
457.2375 being used locally for number of hours. Sounds like a training exercise, I have heard similar before as I am less than 2 miles from the local fire station. I know that they have a training tower and do BA training etc there.

Re: UHF Fire
Thanks JohnB57 for that list. I listen at home in the lower end of the Rhymney valley and is part of the South Wales Fire and Rescue service. I have been informed that some South Wales Fire and Rescue service areas (Cardiff?) are using DMR for fireground communications, but around the Caerphilly Fire Station area I have only ever heard analogue FM in use.
I have highlighted the channels used below:
455.9875
457.0125
457.0375 - Firefighter to firefighter and firefighter to appliance (fire engine)
457.0875
457.1375
457.1875
457.2375 - Training channel
457.4875 - Breathing apparatus (BA)
462.5375
462.5625
462.5875
462.6375
Perhaps we can fill in the gaps and try to compile some kind of confirmed list for different areas as there seems to be a lot of confusion, obviously we know that TETRA is used from the appliances for main comms.
Edit - list copied incorrectly

Re: UHF Fire
Greater Manchester are using DMR.
457.0375 being channel one and in use regularly. Not heard traffic on other channels yet, waiting for the next big incident to see if I can hear anything.
DP4600 used by firefighters, DP4800 used by retained firefighters and some senior officers and DP4400 Intrinsically safe radios for ATEX use.
