CAP+ and programming a DMR Radio TYT MD380

Post by welshevo »

morning folks!

not sure if this has been discussed previous? im looking for some info.....on how to programme a cap+ into the TYT MD380

ive read varying messages on this?! from my understanding you can input the "main" TX and not assign a Digital Group and create 2 channels of the same Freq but diff time slots? and the radio will come alive?

but then....also from memory my local nhs uses a cap+ system for example the main " output" was 453.3250 but.... the voice channel was 453.8000... and this worked very well until recently when they have now changed there frequencies!! ....and being as my dongle has packed in so cant decode using DSD what i want to do is make use of the WTR ofcom and fill my radio up with plenty of DMR from CAP+ to simplex... for instance if a dmr is 455.64375 and this is on a CAP+ system...what would the voice output channel frequency?

any ideas or am i going to have to wait and purchase a new dongle?? ://

if its cap plus only then you need one memory location per slot

mem1 - freq 1 slot 1
mem2 - freq 1 slot 2
mem3 - freq 2 slot 1
mem4 - freq 2 slot 2
and so on ......

add all the talkgroups used in the system to a digital group list and assign this to all memories (1-4)

finally add all mems to a zone and scanlist

if you have CAP+ and RAS ...forget it ...move on ....md380 cant store RAS keys

How to determine is system on CAP plus only or CAP+ and RAS?

In My area there is DMR repeater which i scan with RTLSDR & DSD+. i get clear audio of SLot 1 & Slot 2, means the system is not using encryption. Right?

I get Color code =1,TDMA slot 1 & 2 and Talk Group= 1000 from DSD+ & DMR decode.

But when i programed it in MD380 nothing happend...no audio.

I think i am missing something or my programming have some error. so i am attaching the screen shot of DSDplus and DSD decode in this massage.
so please help me to understand it.

DSD+ will tell you if it has RAS. If it doesn't say it there, then it isn't RAS.

in your second photograph Meverick in the bottom row where it says DMR DCC:1 it will say DMR DCC: 1 Cap+ RAS

you will know its cap+ just by listening - idle bursts are every 2-3 seconds

in your specific case you need to programme 2 memory channels - 1 for slot 1 and one for slot 2

make sure that you make the TX frequency different to the RX frequency - otherwise the radio will be in the wrong "Mode"

On my dsd+ screen on cap+ I have 2 lots in use and up to 8 channels in use. How do I find out which other frequencies are linked to this system ?
I can here all the slots/channels on the PC ok so will I be able to hear them all if I only programme one frequency with 2 slots.

Sorry I am finding the slots/channels multiple frequency info a bit confusing.

See the second post in this thread. On the TYTMD380 you need to treat each timeslot as a memory entry - so for your four frequency systems you'd use 8 memory allocations..

(in DSD+ you have one entry per frequency and it infers the other timeslot)
"Search engine? How do I find that?"
"Sod it, let someone else do it"
