Commerical users don't know how to use radios

Post by Excalibur »

Has anyone noticed a lot of business users of radio can't use their radios microphones properly? I had one user who was using analog and sounded very muffled while the rest of the users on that frequecny sounded just fine dont know what he was doing but it sounded awful.

And it's even WORSE on DMR, Some users sound completely fine and know how to use a radio but others it sounds like they are putting their lips right next to the mic which you DONT need to do on digital and it sounds awful and extremely loud even when you have your radio on low volume :? You would think these people would have training on how to use their radios

From your local supermarket checkout operator to road workers etc - none of them are going to get proper training on how to use a radio like they have been on it since the 80's.
They get chucked a radio, given a 5 minute spiel on how it works and that's it.

I work in a psychiatric hospital and the other week one of the female patients got hold of one of the nurses radios and locked herself in a room, All you could hear through out the hospital on the other radios was her screaming something about sausages and laughing maniacally. Lasted about 5 minutes before they got the radio back off her

It's all training, most think they're not even being listened too by people on the outside. Also don't forget it's not a hobby to them so they don't really care, it's just a tool.
