Here we go again, 'when I were a lad I walked 300 miles to school wi nae shuz', I would challenge someone to define the hobby of 'scanning'. I can resolve and listen to my local Mototrbo enabled SW/PW, but now that I've found the frequency and CC etc, located their TX site and twig, that's it, I don't bother listening as it's as boring as hell, so even if they were encrypted I would still get the same 'wardrive' style of experience from their signal and be happy. Horses for courses, if you like listening to benign drivel then the hobby is indeed slipping away for you.
If anyone is unhappy with their AOR-DV1 then I have a spare hundred quid for it.
