Digital Scanners

Post by CraigH198420 » 08 Mar 2005, 17:54

Im wondering if anybody here has a digital scanner as yet, and if it would be worth buying one or not, i know they cant pick up any TETRA trunking systems, so what other advantage would there be in owning one in the UK?

There wouldnt be an advantage..... cause it wouldnt make much difference. Your better waiting untill they invent/make a scanner capable of scanning TETRA (Thats if they mange to INVENT ONE!!)

I don't know of anyone off the top of my head that uses APCO in the UK, if anyone at all. There certainly wouldn't be much use for it over here.

Apart from not having the trunking facilty, being a bit slower in searching (sometimes too fast causes the radio to miss) almost all that is on that radio I have on my 5 year old AR. Plus Americans usually have only 5 and 10 k steps, whereas over this side we are burdened with 6.25's and 12.5's etc too, and other oddities not on Bearcats, some Realistics etc. But in sayng that, it is still quite a smart bit of kit.
