APRS ?

Post by S109 »

Hi,

Recently got a Kenwood D710 and I'm interested in using the APRS but to be honest I don't know a lot about it  I've downloaded the Kenwood 'Getting acquainted with APRS & Echolink' I know my way around the Kenwood radio & menus as I've got another Kenwood radio but need a bit of help and pointing to some beginner APRS sites etc. I'm using at home for now so I'd like to link it to the pc (got the cable) what's the best software/maps I should use ?

Thanks.

You could use agwpe with your soundcard and ui view....not a lot or no use on 446 but(well some in the EU a lot in white Russia....weird..) you could set up and link to the cb apr s web server...but in your area you would be alone....
Better to run on 27.235 FM and maybe get a few stations in your area on....??
See the packet thread on the other page....

Sorry if your thinking of 2mtrs 144.800 etc there should be few noises on there and the armature servers would get you on the system....and link you to the world..
