I bought a px-777 about a year ago now but yesterday i decided to fully reset it so i could update the frequencies on it.
But now i cant seem to get the names of each chanel on the screen
All chanels are named,
Iv tried holding VFO while switching on but it just comes up with a chanel number.
If i Hold VFO again it comes up with the frequency?
Any Ideas??

Re: Puxing px-777
Start the radio up by pressing and holding ENTER to get it into channel mode.
With the keypad unlocked, press MENU and then you can select a function with the encoder knob.
Spin it until it gets to parameter number 15, and the display will show NAME?
Hit ENTER to select this parameter.
Spin the encoder knob and the parameter will alternate between ON and OFF.
ON selects user-programmed channel names (the names you have given to the channels). OFF selects factory-programmed CH-xxx names.
Once you have selected ON, confirm with ENTER or cancel with VFO/MR.
You must do this in channel mode, not frequency mode; the same parameter in frequency mode will adjust the transmit frequency offset instead of sleecting user-programmed names.

Re: Puxing px-777 user-defined channel names
Sorry that should read "Start the radio up while pressing and holding ENTER to get it into channel mode".

Re: Puxing px-777
assuming that you have not flashed the puxing with a weirwei codeplug (which is, in some cases, achievable, and I have yet to find a cure !!)
I suggest you try the following (forgive me if you know these sequences already, but someone else somewhere may have less knowledge than you and may find it beneficial).
I have just tested it on my mate's PX777+ , but I don't recall you saying which variant you have yourself:
1) Switch into channel mode:
Power off the radio by the volume / ON-OFF knob (i.e. don't do it by removing the battery)
Press-and-hold-and-continue-to-hold the {ENTER} button
Power on the radio
now release the {ENTER} button
if the radio displays a frequency e.g. 400.000 then repeat the above sequence - you want to see something like CH-001
you are now sure you're in channel mode
2) Enable alpha tags
with the radio powered on and in channel mode:
Press {MENU} (the word MENU will appear on the screen)
rotate the channel knob on the top of the radio till menu 15 (NAME ? 15) is displayed on the screen
Press {ENTER}
my guess is that it will say " OFF o "
rotate the channel knob ONCE - it will say " ON "
Press {ENTER} - the display should now say " ON o "
Press {VFO/MR} - The display reverts to " NAME ? 15 "
Press {VFO/MR} again and hopefully you will have your tags back.
Thanks "Mr Ed" (you know who you are!) for the use of the radio to test this.
Regards
BB
