Luiton LT-25W Handheld 25W Radio!
Luiton claim to have manufactured a 25W handheld two way radio, the LT-25W.
The specifications are here:
http://luiton.com/product/luiton-25w-two-way-radio/
Seems very unlikely that this handheld will be able to develop that much power, would be very interesting to actually test this unit to see what it really puts out. Even if it could develop 25W of power the battery wouldn't last long and RF burns would be a real possibility at this level

Re: Luiton LT-25W Handheld 25W Radio!
Good grief, I imagine there may be a niche market for this, but other than having one in your backpack in case of emergencies when there's no cell signal I can't think what it might be.
I can hit my local 2m repeater which is 9 miles ATCF with my 2w UV-3R sitting on my sofa at ground level in the middle of town, so this thing wouldn't fit into my radio armoury right now.
I guess the 446 DXers may get excited about it when hilltopping.

There's a link on twitter to some pictures of Luiton staff testing the handhelds across the city of Quanzhou in China.

I just read the specifications and it says "Intelligent fan-cooled".. wow, fan cooling in a handheld.
The ultimate 446 walkie talkie if you don't mind the weight (550g apparently).

I don't understand what 'non-standard' CTCSS and DCS groups are. Does that mean it has the standard ones plus these 'non-standard' ones? Or just 'non-standard'?
If they're just non-standard then not much use for ham repeaters then?

maybe they're trying to say that you have some kind of 'unique' tone on these, so people can't TX back unless they're on the same hardware?

Which without the standard ones would make the niche even smaller.MrWeetabix wrote:maybe they're trying to say that you have some kind of 'unique' tone on these, so people can't TX back unless they're on the same hardware?
And 16 channels, maybe this is a toe in the water before bringing out one with a screen and fully programmable from the front panel?
Dunno, not for me in it's current format, but if they stuck a 25w chip in a 380 I might be interested.

I bet they still put a crappy antenna on it. I wonder how long the outputs would last on that...

This review doesn't say anything about the non-standard codes.

Some guy tested one on youtube it put about 21w out I think. The battery is 13v and it's massive, twice the size of a UV-5R

Looking at Simon the Wizard's website, I see the guy in those photos is holding the antenna well away from his headTransmission1 wrote:RF burns would be a real possibility at this level

Re: Luiton LT-25W Handheld 25W Radio!
I would follow this advice!
This is a dual purpose tri-power radio that can serve as a 5W/10W handheld,
or a 25W mobile all in one package.
