Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
so for those that werent aware the prototype of the 9600 has now been videoed operating.
despite insistence from a TYT employee that it would be two models (VHF / UHF) I am pleased to confirm its dual band. its basically
an MD2017 in a new box with a bigger PA. encryption is also supposed to be compatible between all two slot (!) DMR radios
Regards

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
64 channels per zone on the 9600
(im playing with the CPS in a virtual sandbox for safety)
enhanced key length / format seems to be the same as the MD380 (128 bit)
theres no option to set your DMR ID on a per channel basis so lets hope its made it into the on screen menu
or Ty Weaver adds it :-)
suggested retail price is 338 USD which equates to about 262 pounds in todays money

Good thinking, I'll give it a whizz on Win7 via the Oracle virtual machine.

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
Well, apart from the enhanced zones and a 'VFO' option it all looks very familiar. I'm not too thrilled about stated Hi power 45w and Lo 25w, I would have preferred 45w and 5w myself, but the software has High, Middle, Middle Low, and Low, I wonder if Middle and Middle Low are between 25 and 45 or if the spec is different to that stated in the ads????

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
some nice options in this CPS
* It can load MD380 codeplugs as though they were native to the MD9600
* you can import and export both contacts and channels list so they can be edited in excel or a text editor
(tested with excel 2007 - worked flawlessly) this is VERY powerful
* It also supports DCDM (2 slot simplex) as either master or mobile station.
DEFINITELY buying one ! :-)

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
one EPIC fail in the software
a zone can support 64 channels, but a scanlist can only support 31 still
so if you were hoping to use this as a marine scanner , you can get all the public channels in one zone, but you cannot
scan them .
I've mentioned it to TYT

Oh, I like that - I'd much rather write a codeplug in excel instead of the CPS.bigbloke wrote:* you can import and export both contacts and channels list so they can be edited in excel

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
I presume it would be in CSV format?

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
yes CSV format
BUT theres a MAJOR flaw
Contacts in the channels list on CSV export are persisted on a POSITION IN DIGITAL CONTACTS TABLE BASIS
The contacts export DOES NOT REFERENCE THIS TABLE
so whereas in your nice list of CSVs you have :
In the channel detail you have the position of the user in the list and not the identity of the user
So if you were to sort your contacts, by name, alphabetically, in say excel for nice and easy reading then you re-import them
then you BREAK the relationship with your contact and its position in the list - effectively every digital channel has have its contact re-aligned
manually - YEEEEUCH !!!
What WERE they thinking ???

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
Not ideal, but could you combine the lists so they are side by side in a single sheet, and then split them into separate sheets again when you're finished?bigbloke wrote:In the channel detail you have the position of the user in the list and not the identity of the user

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
Theoretically maybe - practically it would be a ruddy nightmare - you'd need an excel macro to fix it externally - the contacts list export file has no position index in it to cross correlate , you would need to screen grab from the digital contacts list in the CPS or create an index manually in excel post export then use the macro to re-edit the channels data spreadsheet. recipe for disaster
the channel data spreadsheet is 51 columns wide !!

Re: tytera announce forthcoming DMR mobile
I'm probably being a bit thick here, but I put in some random names, exported, put the names in A-Z order in Excel, re-imported and the names are now in A-Z order in the contact list with the correct TG associated, isn't that how it should be?
