The general rule-of-thumb is that Dollars = Pounds in the real World.

So $189.99 will be £189.99 over here.

at that price id rather buy a quality jap HT second hand

them BF-888S equivalent basic model coming in at 30 quid, no thanks, and its the terminator or whatever we are all interested in and not even SSB

Yep, you can get the BF-888S for less than a tenner on ebay, their equivalent, as you say will be £30 and no better.

As Admiral says, almost £ to the $. Although we're global now, so I reckon we'll find the expensive one for £150, but even so, that's Jap territory and where as, you could buy a Baofeng and leave it on the shelf, because it didn't owe you much, them Anytones are too expensive to buy and not use.

Apparently the frontend is an improvement on the 888 (link) but it's still not exactly fantastic.

Wouldn't bother. personally.
