That cable is one of the most expensive I have come across, you don't need it if you have a CPO40 or an Icom cable, you remove both screws
from the earpiece, remove earpiece cover and either of these cables will then make the proper contact and work, note however that software only recognizes only Com1 or Com2 so if using USB cables go into hardware config-advanced and change to Com2, Win XP, others may differ.

I would give that a go but I have a multi pin arrangement on the HX 483 - Similar to that of the GP340

I need one like this:
