US Radios into the UK

Post by 2wayfreq »

Hello,
I'm curious, I may retire to Scotland in the not to distant future. Are there any restrictions of US Model radios (Motorola, Kenwood, Harris etc. being brought over there? Do they have to meet a certain criteria?

Thanks

Only issues I can think of would be the channel spacing, if 25khz then that would be an issue if going to transmit
And frequency range in the US radios tends to be different from the EU versions so your radios may not work on specific allocations.
Apart from that I don’t think there would be a problem.

It might be worth stocking up on spares for them before you get here, some of the older commercial gear (Motorola Saber, Harris etc) are almost unheard of in the UK. Getting parts will mean either China-made gear, or importing from USA. Mega money!
