Hi Greenboy - In my experience, Diamond antennas are very well built and work well. Watson are usually OK but they are a budget product and some people I know have had problems with them.
HB9's work very well for their size (and of course you can 'point' the power where you want it to go) and if it is ready-made you shouldn't have any problems with matching, usually just one trimmer to twiddle.

I have used a Diamond X-30 very sucessfully.

No modification needed for 446 (or possible, for that matter!).

As he didn't mention it. I assumed he was using it in on a boat in international waters, or some country that just doesn't give a rats bottom. 8)

the dimond antenna isthe best all depends what he wants to use it for 446 mhz or what [-X from m0exm in sunny sunderland
