Hello
I hope some bright person can help with a question about the battery pack date system that Motorola use, I have found some online info but looking at the battery packs I am just confused as to the age, so hopefully someone can enlighten me here.
They are from T60 radio's

Date codes are:-
1317L
1617L
2417L
3517L

Any info gratefully received, thanks.

I always thought first 2 digits were the year and the last 2 the week number but that would not make sense with above.

Thanks Farty & thelad
I could not make head nor tail of these date codes like I said found info on the web but still did not add up given the numbers on these packs.

Farty, now you said week/year that was staring me in the face all along, it all makes sense now I was till trying to fit what info I had seen on the web to make a date up but could not.

Thanks very much.

Usually Motorola battery date codes are like this: First two digits are the year and the next two digits are the week number. However, we've noticed that this appears to be reversed on the Motorola 00242 (aka IXNN4002B) battery, which is the battery for the T60/T80:

As you can see, the Motorola 00242 battery has the week number as the first two digits and then the year number.

It's important to note, however, that this is the date of manufacture and is not any indication of the date it should be sold by or any indication of it's lifespan. For example, it would not be unusual for a battery to be stored for a number of years before sale. It can sometimes take 6-9 months for a battery like this one to get from production to the dealer's shelves.

So don't worry if you get a battery with a date code a couple of years old. It should not affect the performance or life of the battery provided the battery has been stored at the correct temperature and at the minimum storage charge level, which all Motorola dealers are aware of.

Hi Radiotronics
Thanks for the information, yes it looks like Motorola have changed there dating system on these batteries, completely threw me (not that hard to do) looks like my batteries are fairly late packs going by the dates shown.
Thanks for the confirmation on what "thelad" said above.
