EU 446 MHz Regulatory Changes
CEPT ECC Decision (15)05 regarding 446 MHz PMR was approved on July 3, 2015 repealing the earlier ERC/DEC/(98)25 and ECC/DEC/(05)12. Currently some experimenters in the UK are operating Internet Linked Repeaters in the 446.0-446.2 MHz band, such systems could be impacted when Ofcom eventually implements the Decision. See

Re: EU 446 MHz Regulatory Changes
I know exactly how much notice the 446 experimenters will take of this.
None whatsoever.
None whatsoever.

Internet linked gateways not repeaters, slightly different things.

EU directives are not always bad. It was thanks to them that AM/SSB operation on CB was finally legalised, even though it was about half a century too late.

Ooh, look at this (p2):
On a more serious note, what makes the ECC think all the 25W base/mobile/igaters are going to stop operating now? They've always been on dodgy ground and this decision hasn't changed anything.
That's a double negative, so you CAN do all the stuff they don't want you to do. LOL...peer-to-peer mode and cannot be used neither as a part of infrastructure network nor as a repeater.

Either or, neither nor... not a double negative - it's just missing a comma!

Re: EU 446 MHz Regulatory Changes
Looking at the regulation notice, since most of the time that PMR446 has been in use in the UK, I assumed we had always been told from the start that this was the limit. Is this repeal trying to say that actually there were different rules all along for PMR446? If so, what were the restrictions previously (without these changes)?
And personally, I think any partisan burocrat has been double negative in their speaking about anything to do with anything (let alone matters concerning the use of radio spectrum) lol

'peer to peer' is slightly ambiguous too.

Re: EU 446 MHz Regulatory Changes
Very true even simply chatting to someone fully legally could be classed as "peer to peer"!
Regulations are unlikely to deter anyone currently bending the rules, even radio amateurs, those traditionaly deemed the bastions of keeping it legal, can be found on 446 these days merrily chatting away on their less than legal output modded amateur radios, or dabbling with a bit of internet linking!
Theres quite a few around here!
Not hard to spot, as they even talk about their amateur DX exploits elsewhere!
Its all become a bit of a joke from a licencing point of view, and I seriously doubt anything set in law by the EU will change their attitude towards what they do, and don't do, or even where!
