[PMR446 MONTHLY NET] 8th day of the Month, 8pm, Channel 8
I tried calling CQ on PMR Channel 8 last night with not a sausage,
so hear is my idea.
Perhaps we could have Transmission 1 PMR 'CQ DXing' arranged for
The 8th day of each month at 8pm on Channel 8
Moving off 8, when(if!) contacts are made.
8pm should be a late enough to have your evening meal and get to the top of your nearest hill?
Thoughts?
Owen

Re: Small proposal
That sounds like a good idea. Probably worth making a post on the morning of the 8th day, just to remind everyone who might be able to give it a go.

Hmm... A Wednesday next month... Sounds good to me!
I'll see if I can work out a vantage point over the Cheshire Plain
Yup! Count me in!
My name's Rob and I have a PMR446 problem.... Or so my wife says....

great idea
8th June, i'll be on family hols at Newgale in Pembrokeshire, stunning fm dx spot so i guess it should be good for 446 into Cornwall and Ireland
i'll write myself a memo and stick it in my luggage
8th July i'll be back home in East Cheshire, i reckon i might make it to Rob if the winds in the right direction or one of us is on a hill!

Sounds good to me most members are on the transmission 1 446 users map so you can check that to see who's closest to you

Re: Small proposal
I think I'm the closest, in Hendon. Maybe if we both go up a hill it could work. Do you have a beam or anything?thazlett wrote:I'd be up for that! don't think anyone using PMR446 lives near me though. Maidenhead, Berks.
I can try using 5W.
Edit:The distance between us is about 21.5 miles.

I don't have a yagi or anything like that, I do have a CJU and a Moxon antenna I could try out. I can also go 5w, got an FDA450.
Edit:
Just noticed my work rotor! i'm working night shifts next week, including the 8th!!!! start at 7pm so won't make this month

Re: [PMR446 MONTHLY NET] 8th day of the Month, 8pm, Channel
Just been told that the wife is working late, so I'll be at home with the boy... I'll try from there, but I'm not hopeful with 500mW hand sets at sea-level. I'll use the better reception on the scanner as well to see if I can hear, but again a long shot.
Are most of TM1 446 Net users going to be using legal sets, or mod 4/5W? Looking at the map I worried I'll never pick anyone up! SoH

I'll be using one of my 4w Puxings on an external antenna up in the loft but again, I'm not expecting any contacts...
