Hi all is there anywhere in the Bridgend area I can buy coax and plugs ect :thumbup:

I've never seen anywhere in Bridgend or Barry. There's a Maplins in Cardiff which does sell coax but I don't know whether it's the top notch stuff. http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?text=Coa ... &x=18&y=18
I'd say your best bet is mail order from one of the radio shops online.

There's actually two Maplin stores in Cardiff and also one in Swansea. Both about the same distance from Bridgend. ;)

I got lmr 400 coming thanks all what would a 5 m long wire pick up horizontal in the attic pick up any ideas

It mostly depends on which way the wire is facing. If you have the ends North to South then it's sides will be facing East to West so USA/Canada one way and Europe/Russia the other way will be strongest.

Thanks so much Trog I have it going east west it is 2.5 meters each end to electrical connector then to coax so what frequency ranges would it pull in do you think :thumbup:

I'm no 'expert' and I reckon that you'll get a better answer from people that use scanners themselves but I would assume that if it is 2.5 meters on each side, then that would make it a half wave for the 10 meter band.

Thanks trog I put 17 Mts of 6 mm wire around the attic now see what that pulls in :?:
